W1 - Feb 26

Dear, parents. Although, students did not have my class today, I would like to update you on next weeks experience class.  I have organized a great project that will combine math, craft, and studying about a famous artist and his style of art.  Although I am overwhelmed and only just finished my first week. I decided I wanted to try influence the experience classes to have more teaching and learning opportunities. I don't think experience class should be just make something. I am very excited to teach this experience class. Students will learn about geometric shapes, tetrahedron, artist Piet Mondrian, primary colors, and fine motor skill of cutting out.  Next week is the test/quiz. Please encourage students to study for the test. They all received their test/quiz paper back, so they should be able to do this. If you have any questions about the test, feel free to ask. Although, please remember it is just a weekly quiz, it is not an exam. This tes

Dear, parents. Today students finished with the Phonics and Wonder work for this week. As some students did not give me the mocktest I gave as homework, I decided to hold it in class time. I believe that it went well and I will finish marking and then provide some feedback tomorrow. My plan is to let students retake the test next Tuesday. Therefore, I will return the mocktest to students tomorrow. They can take it home and review for the real test on Tuesday. As I said in a previous blog post, the mocktest was not added to their grade for this week.    I believe it went okay. 🙏🤍

Dear, parents. Today we covered some Wonders, although students told me some pages were already finished.  We did the first two pages no problem. However, when we came to the last two, it was already filled out. I'm not sure why, and will try work that out tomorrow.  Today we had experience class, which seemed to go okay. Students seem to enjoy learning about Africa art patterns and making their paperplate necklaces. The only issue was with some students standing up and  walking around instead of working on their own project. I repeatedly asked them to wait until break and go back to their seats. Sadly, I eventually shouted to tell them to sit down. This worked, but I don't feel comfortable having to raise my voice so much for a few students who wouldn't follow the rule. Please encourage your children to listen, learn, and respect. Students were sent home with a mocktest. I covered the material during the class, so they should be able to complete it

Dear, parents.  I am not sure what happened before, but I believe students should be reading the Nice Mittens story in their free time. That gives my classtime more focus on review and correction.  Below is the homework for today.  I have also included the mocktest which is labelled as Week 1 Homework. I was planning to go over the worksheet during class, just to make sure students are familiar with what they need to do in future.  We covered half of the Phonics material for this week. Also, students had chance to completed the worksheet for the experiment yesterday. I also asked some questions about the science class yesterday to check if students retained the information I covered. I am very happy with their enthusiasm.
